The Sirens
Concert BOOKISHNESS
A musical reading
Born in 2022 to mark the centenary of Irish writer James Joyce's Ulysses, The Sirens musico-literary creative reading project has taken several forms, depending on the musicians and texts involved. For Renaissance 2.0, the acoustic exploration of text and music continues with an expanded body of work on the Afro-descendant diaspora with Kamau Brathwaite (Barbados), Inua Ellams (Nigeria), Toni Morrison and Zora Neale Hurston (USA), as well as the mythological-impressionist movement led by writer Anne Carson (Canada), and a reinterpretation of the courageous advice of Kae Tempest (UK). At this concert, which is part of the Bookishness installation, we invite you to enjoy a different, poetic reading experience, enhanced by images of our sound compositions.
