Paul Petrino & Antón de Macedo
C0CH (E0.IG)
Sensory Installation
patchwork of pre-internet-oric publications
The work C0CH (E0.IG) takes as its starting point the entirely AI-generated art book 3038 (50.97) produced by the duo Paul Petrino & Antón de Macedo and released in January 2024. Wishing to move away from the AI tool but continue to address the issue, they produced this artist's book, whose grimoire-like form evokes a bygone era, but whose content and layout address the construction of knowledge with new technologies.
Made exclusively with works published before the advent of the internet, C0CH (E0.IG) is a work that links two worlds: that of paper and the telephone and our current environment of the internet and AI.
As well as being a work of imagination and artistic creation, this installation is also an opportunity to ask questions about the possible changes that digital technology can bring to books, in terms of both form and content. However, the aim is not to privilege digital technology, or to present it as a replacement for hand-crafted creation. On the contrary, C0CH (E0.IG) is also an opportunity to explore this field and observe how paper and digital come together to enrich our experience and practice of reading.
